Acne Cure By Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a chemical substance that is famous for its use in acne treatments. Acnes are formed due to the clogging of the pores of the skin by sebum, a substance secreted by the sebaceous glands. Salicylic acid is the main ingredient in almost all lotions and applications which remove acnes.
Basically, Salicylic acid exfoliates the skin. In other words, it peels off the outermost layer of skin thus preventing pores from clogging up. It does two main actions. It removes the dead cells of the skin when applied and it also clears all the pores of the skin. Hence no new plugs are formed and pores are kept clean without clogging.
Acne treatment often involves the use of salicylic acid treated pads or lotions and gels containing Salicylic acid. Though highly effective that it is even used in treating dandruff, corns, warts and calluses, it has certain ill effects on the skin. It causes burning, stinging and severe irritation. It often results in dryness of skin and these are the reasons why salicylic acid is not preferred nowadays.
There are other new ingredients which are many times better in their exfoliating property when compared to salicylic acid but at the same time, these new ingredients do not cause any side effects. Click here to learn more about salicylic acid.
