Haemorrhoids

What are Hemorrhoids and how are they Treated

Hemorrhoids are inflammations that occur on the lower part of the rectum and perhaps even outside and around the anal canal opening.  These inflammations are also referred to as rectum lumps or piles.  These swollen tissues and blood veins are painful and itchy.  Piles are causes by many factors and some of the identified are long sitting postures, constipation, liver dysfunction (cirrhosis).  The inflammation in the body is part of the healing process. In fact, it is caused by release of white cells and other pathogen fighting substances, which lead to the swelling.

The treatment of hemorrhoids is aimed at eliminating the symptoms, which are experienced.  For instance, one of the symptoms is the swelling and soreness of the blood vessels and the underlying tissues. This is counteracted by applying Anusol cream, ointment or suppositories.  The medicine has ingredients such as the balsam Peru and bismuth oxide, which contain astringent properties that help in constricting the blood vessels.

When the blood vessels dilate, they put pressure on the tissue around them thus triggering the nerve ending to signal the white blood cells and other disease fighting substances to be released. It’s these substances and white blood cells, which form the swelling.  The medication entails ingredients containing antiseptic.  This reduces infection through the worn out linings.  Hemorrhoids can be treated and managed if proper and right medication is administered.
